This is an excellent site for students, parents, and teachers looking for current events sponsored by the New York Times, one of the leading news providers in the U.S. This site also has specially designed features for students, teachers, and parents.

Online News hour - Extra News for Students Link
This is the web site of the Online News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS; specifically geared for students. This site offers easy access to current stories both national and international news.

The Newseum - The Interactive Museum of News
The Newseum is currently the only interactive museum of news that takes visitors behind the scenes in order to see and experience how and why news is made. The site also offers a virtual tour of the headquarters located in Arlington, VA. This site is a wonderful visual experience for classes to learn about making news.

The Global Gazette
The Global Gazette is an international online newspaper focusing on culture. Three girls who live in Norway, the United States, and China created it. This site offers information about traditions, sports, governments, music and arts, and everyday life in the United States, China, and Norway.

Child and Family News Web Guide
A new website designed and built by a project team composed of librarians and child development faculty at Tufts University. The site is designed for students and parents. Some special features include ratings and reviews of research-based websites in child development. Like many websites, it is a work in progress, and as time goes on, more sites and subtopics will be added.

Between the Lions
A PBS series and web site of interactive stories and games for kids learning to read and write. The American Library Association, and two of its divisions, the American Association of School Librarians and the Association for Library Service to Children, are founding partners in the Between the Lions series.
