This census of the first citizens of Texas began in 1829 and continued for seven years. Many Mexican families are included and listings are by municipality. The original of this fragmentary census is at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

This fragile volume with handwritten notes is notable as a compendium of the seventh Census with comparative tables basedcensus, beginning based on the schedules and other official sources of information from 1790 forward. 50,000 copies were originally printed for use by the Senate. This volume contains sample reproductions of each schedule and a map of Travis County, Texas. It gathers five schedules of the 1860 Federal Census of Travis County into one compilation. These schedules include Population, Slave, Mortality, Agriculture, and Products of Industry. 3079 slaves were owned by 419 individuals and the enumerated households add up to 943 total.

Index to the 1880 Federal Census created to fill the void created by omissions in the Soundex for the decennial year of 1880. For a household to be listed, it was required that there be at least one child the age of 10 or under. The Census was officially recorded as 27,028 and this compilation contains 26,900 entries.

The original census was destroyed in January, 1921, in Washington, D.C. This compilation is derived from the 1890 Travis County, Texas Tax List. The only men exempt from this Tax List were Indians, persons insane, blind, deaf & dumb, or those who had lost one hand or one foot.

This bulletin contains a maps of the city by 1940 Census tracts and contains a number of tables including: Population by race and nativity and occupied dwelling units; age, race, and sex; years of school completed; employment status, class of worker, major occupation group, country of birth, and citizenship by sex and census tract. Nonwhite population tables include nonwhite by years of school completed; employment status, class of worker, major occupation group, and country of birth. Other tables concern housing such as dwelling units by occupancy status and race of occupants; value of owner occupied dwelling units; type of structure, state of repair and plumbing equipment; and dwelling units occupied by nonwhite households by value of rent, size of household, persons per room, and state of repair and plumbing equipment.

Tables include tabulation by structures, estimated future population, population in the metropolitan area outside the city, population by sex, populations by worker type, and Negro population. Of note with the Negro population are data showing the 'East Side' expansion requirements for the Negro population. The figures used do not include Travis County men and women in the armed services.
