GSLIS ACCOUNT

Assignment Title: Establish GSLIS Account and Provide Email Addresses.

Participation: Individual.

Due date: 20 January 2001

Format: Email.

Submission Method: Email to course emailbox.

Maximum points: Part of course participation.

Introduction: Many requirements of this course require a GSLIS account and familiarity with its use. This assignment provides an opportunity for students to gain some knowledge of the account early on and to set up class email to their preferred address. The GSLIS account will be where you post your web pages and experiment with PINE - the UNIX GSLIS email system. You may also set up an email account with the University of Texas and you may automatically forward mail from both these accounts to your preferred email address.

Goals: The goals of this assignment are twofold:

  • To provide the student familiarity with the GSLIS Website and the individual GSLIS account that will be used for various assignments.

  • To provide the TAs with your GSLIS account and preferred email addresses (they do not need to be the same).

Tasks: For this assignment, you will:

  1. Establish a GSLIS account using instructions provided in the GSLIS Website. (Direct links are provided on the course syllabus page if you are having difficulty in navigating GSLIS Website.)

  2. Send an email message to the course emailbox providing your name, your GSLIS account email address and your preferred email account.
