Preliminary Evaluation

The pluralistic evaluation familiarized group members with the site's current content and architecture. Initial impressions were recorded so they could be referred to after we became more familiar with the site. The evaluation also alerted group members as to what sections would need more consideration.

Content
ATI facilitates the growth and development of emerging technology companies by advising early-stage, high-risk companies and providing them with the necessary assistance to make their technology-based ventures succeed.

The content areas of the home page need to be re-organized in order for users to come to the page and have clear actionable steps that they can accomplish. Also, the ATI logo and mission statement at the top of the page is reducing essential screen real estate, forcing the user to have to search for information. Additionally, the nineteen available text links forming a “L” shape in the left hand corner are difficult to understand because the links are not grouped in clear buckets. The “L” shaped links also vary in type, some are links to more ATI web site pages, some link to off-site pages, and some are PDF files.

What goals would a user take if coming to an About Us page?
Contact information should be immediately visible.
Link to how to become a company supported by ATI.
Make clear the services and resources provided by ATI.∑ Mission, History, Background, and Fact Sheet need to be grouped more together and not be links in the middle of the page
The listings of the committees are difficult to read, they need shading or something between names so that the information can be better read.
The Sidebar Button links aren’t appropriately tied into the page’s content.

Companies

Some companies are grouped as Non-Profits or “CEI Companies”?
Sidebar links (News, Company Info, IPO)
There should be a brief “headline” for each company, and then the full descriptor text.
Confusing link name “Companies” – Companies might think this is where I go to find out how to join… as opposed to thinking I will see a list of companies

Admissions

Link to Admissions Criteria (admissions-criteria.htm)
Link to Requirements (ati-requirements.htm)
Link to Admissions Process (admissions-process.htm)
Link to Executive Summary Requirements (exec-sum-requirments(sic).htm)
Link to Power Point Requirements (ppt-req.htm)
Link to Success Committees (aboutus.htm/#success.htm)
Submit an Executive Summary

The flow chart at the top of page is not well done, the Decline arrows are pointing to the descriptor of the process, and the Weeks/Time arrows are not clear. Then, the description of the stages in the content don’t match up with the boxes, and then there’s relevant but misplaced information about time, nondisclosure and due diligence. Then the Sidebar nav on the right doesn’t match up with the links in the body in terms of link naming and ordering. And the <title> isn’t done.

Services

This site needs secondary navigation that ties in with the main navigation. The sidebar links on the right just aren’t enough. Plus, once you go into a content page, such as Strategy, it’s not even clear if you’re still in Services or not.

Jobs

The Jobs link does not belong with the main links like About Us… it should really be grouped with Contact Us and News… even though the jobs are for both internal (ATI) and external companies.
The link to Submit Your Resume (submit-resume.htm) is superfluous, that content should be incorporated on this page.

Graduates

Why is the page sitting outside of the Companies page, and if it must be this way, why is the Graduates button link so far away from the Companies button link.
What are some company names italicized?
This page is really hard to read, the columns are too narrow.

Contact Us

Maybe Other should be a checkbox choice for why you’re writing?
The topic text field could cause confusion.
The Country drop-down with the next-to-it drop-down with an arrow is insane. I get a JavaScript error.
Make some fields optional.

News

Needs a few lines of intro text.
Probably anything before year 2000 should be linked into a news archives section.
Maybe want to view news by company?
