GSLIS STUDENT PROJECTS

Jordan Elementary School Library Web Page

Created by GSLIS students Chris Ullmer and Jenny Day, this is a fantastic example of a good elementary school library web site. Check out the resources available to the Jordan Elementary students!

Bluebonnet Trail Texas History Helper

This is a great resource for all those 4th grade Texas students, teachers, and librarians working on Texas history...and for anyone else interested about Texas. There's sure a lot to be interested about!

Cedar Valley Middle School Celebration of Diversity

This is a wonderful site created to promote the awareness and understanding of the individual differences within the Cedar Valley Middle School community! It was created by GSLIS students Laura Stiles and Catherine Vance.

Eat Smart!

The subtitle says it all: "A Guide for Kids Who Want to Eat Healthy." An excellent resource for a class unit on food and nutrition for grades 3-5 - or just exploring on one's own!

Space!

This web site contains information about two aspects of space science: the moon and the stars! Created by GSLIS students Meredith Hankins and Jennifer Goldman, it contains web quests, activities, and cool links that kids will enjoy.

Fun With Sarah, Plain and Tall

A popular fiction book to use with a pioneer unit, this site extends the story through its related activities and links.

Del Valle Internet Resource Center

This great web site, created by GSLIS students Robyn Rosenberg and Jennifer Kern, provides useful, evaluated Internet resources, as well as links for information on evaluating web sites and improving Internet searches. These resources are appropriate for seventh and eighth grade students, with particular emphasis on curriculum needs.

The Homeschooler's Language Helper

An invaluable resource for anyone studying Spanish, French, German, or Latin, this site offers links to dictionaries, lessons, practice exercises, cultural pages, and resources for parents and teachers. Especially helpful for ages 12-up.

The Literature Connection

A great resource for high school students, maintained by alumna Megan Spencer.

The Sports Page for Kids

A super site for exploring about all kinds of sports, with selectively chosen links to other quality sites!

Storybook Nook

This site includes lots of great stories to read on-line and also provides links to author sites, activities pages, and instructions for making a book.

Selection Aids For Multicultural Literature

This site was created as a class project by December 2001 graduate Frances Ramberg. It contains online resources intended to facilitate the selection of multicultural books for children. Check it out...she did a lot of work!

Texas Bluebonnet Awards

The Web site was redesigned in Spring 2001, by GSLIS students in Dr. Barbara Immroth's Electronic Resources for Children and Youth course. This Web site is produced and maintained by the Texas Bluebonnet Committee.
