Gus Goes to Cybertown is the first in a series of three. There is a lot packed into this self-guided, interactive learning experience. Gus and friends tell students all kinds of facts like how fruit grows, the first computer, ENIAC, and mankind's responsibility for taking care of the environment, whales, ocean, land, etc. [Top of Page]

Special Features

There are 3 fun games hidden in Cybertown stores. An alphabet game with 3 levels, a counting game with 4 levels, and "Dress Gus for the Correct Weather" game.

I tried Gus out on a small group of school students grades K-4. They loved it! They had no trouble figuring out what to do. The teacher commented that the pictures used for the initial vowel sound were the same as they use in class. So this program can be used for reinforcement. Coming back to Gus showed its versatility in producing different facts and actions from the characters. This helps Gus to keep interesting for a lot longer.

I did notice that with even a small amount of talking and/or movement, it was difficult to catch some of the facts that are thrown out. For example, what little kid is going to understand the word ENIAC? A teacher or adult would need to fill in some information in this instance if that is the desired knowledge or if a student asks about it.

Gus Goes to Cybertown is delightful and interesting. I recommend it!
