Multimedia Publishers reviewed by the GSLIS:

Dorling Kindersley Multimedia

Dorling Kindersley, a British publisher, is well known for its illustrated children's books. The distinctive "DK style" of book design translates very well into the multimedia format. And if Microsoft's Musical Instruments and other Microsoft multimedia products seem imbued in DK style, that's quite possibly because they were developed through agreements between both companies. Microsoft also acquired a stake in DK in 1991.

Peter Kindersley, DK's editor, believes that the computer and video revolutions are producing a new generation of visually oriented readers that will respond well to books on CD-ROM. "This new form of children's book fits well with the way young readers process information", said Kindersley in an interview published in The Horn Book Magazine ("An Interview with Peter Kindersley", May-June 1992, Vol. 68, No. 3. Pages 297-309.) See also the article by Anne Gregor, "DK Multimedia: A Very Smart British Invasion," in CD-ROM Today, December 1994, pages 88-90.
