Proposals for IAG projects.
- Kayla. Portal/Electronic Reserve for
IT lab. To advertise services and resources available at the IT
lab. To gather feedback from IT lab users on how to meet the needs
of the students. To design a database that would provide 24-hour
access to reserve materials. This would benefit the GSLIS students.
Increase visibility for IAG.
- Kristi. Research wizard. To help undergraduates find resources,
help them choose the correct database. This project would entail
the creation of a product (rather than evaluation of an existing
design). The product would allow the student to create a bibliography,
create an outline for the paper. We would focus on freshman composition
courses. The project would be a "proof of concept," encompassing
only the undergraduate library. IAG member emeritus Steve Schang
would help with the architecture of the design. Randolph contacted
English professor John Slatin who will pass the information on to
two other professors.
- Eleanor. The UT Performing Arts Center web site (www.utpac.org)
has poor accessibility. The webmasters are interested in some evaluation
by the IAG. Eleanor says it's not a difficult site. High profile.
People involved are involved in UT, in the community. Eleanor is
trying to contact a representative of UTPAC and invite them to the
next meeting, to let them demo their site to us, and demonstrate
their willingness to make changes, potentially, as a result of our
work.
We would like to begin the projects in the next two weeks. Discussed
how to select the project(s). 1) Let people pick the project that
most appeals to them and those signed up for the same project would
be the IA team. They would write a proposal for what they would
accomplish and the time frame for the work. 2) Select one project
and work on it as a group.
Violet will send out a form to be used to submit IA resources. Things
to be submitted would include: books members have that they are
willing to lend to others, IA web sites, and journal articles related
to IA.
Rhonda will contact Steve Schang about the IAG listserv and how
that works.
Rhonda will contact Dr. Hallmark to find out if Lou Rosenfeld
needs transportation during this time at UT.
Kayla will inquire about the becoming a student organization
and what that emails.
