Preview & Post

The final step is previewing your work in a web browser and posting it to the server.

  • File > Preview in Browser. Notice the address in the browser; it should be the file path to your files on your computer. The links will NOT work.
  • To post your work to the web, go to the Site window. Highlight the .html file(s) you would like to post and click the blue arrow that reads "put file(s)" when you mouse over it.
  • A window will appear asking if you would like to include dependent files. Dependent files are images or pages linked in your html document. Click YES.
  • Now your files should appear on the lefthand side of the site window in your remote folder.
  • To check your work, open a web browser and type http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~your_user_name. Note: Use your ischool login, which is also the beginning of your email address after the tilde.
  • Congratulations, you have just used Dreamweaver to create a web page!
