IntroductionThe goal of this tutorial is to teach incoming School of Information students how best to use their School of Information accounts. Every School of Information student receives his or her own account, which includes an email address (your_user_name@ischool.utexas.edu) with 100 MB of space and 150 MB of server space (http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~your_user_name). Many students sign up for this account, yet never fully utilize all of its features. It is incredibly likely, however, that one of your professors will request that you send emails from your School of Information email account, or that you post a paper online using your School of Information server space. So you might as well learn how to use your account now! If you have any questions about your School of Information account, make sure to visit the School of Information Information Technology (IT) Lab, located at 451 Sanchez. The IT Lab is staffed with your fellow School of Information graduate students, ready to answer any question you might have. You can identify an IT Lab Staff member by the purple shirt that he or she wears. You can also get help by visiting the IT Lab website. Find answers to your frequently asked questions, information about your School of Information account, and online tutorials. You can also call the IT Lab at 512/471-3991 or email an IT lab staff member at itlab-tech@ischool.utexas.edu if you have any questions. Objectives of this Tutorial 1. Learn how to sign up for a School of Information account. |
