Part 6: Burning Images from Your iPhoto Albums and Library to CD

Computers in the IT lab have CD-RW drives, which mean that you can create your own CDs to store your images. This process is called “burning” to disc because your drive "burns" your files to a CD with a laser.

1. Insert a blank CD into the disc drive of the computer. There is no button for ejecting the disc drive on the computer; look for the eject key at the top right of the keyboard to control the CD drive.

2. In iPhoto, select the album or individual images in your iPhoto Library that you wish to copy to disc. It is highly recommended that you first make an album of your images as discussed in Part 5 of the iPhoto tutorial prior to burning images to disc.

4. At this time, you will have an opportunity to name your CD and preview the number of images you have selected to burn and the file size of those images. Check the information window at the left to preview this information. To alter the title, click inside the "Disc Name" box and edit.

5. We are now ready to burn our images to CD. At this time you should be certain that all your images you wish to burn are in the album you've selected to burn and that you have sufficient space on your CD to contain your images. Click the burn icon once again. A new window will appear asking you to verify that you would like burn the CD. Click burn, and patiently wait while iPhoto burns your images to CD.
