Student Computer Lab

Information Technology Services maintains one student computer lab at the School of Information - the Information Technology Lab (IT Lab).

In the lab, students have access to the latest computer and AV technology, premium software, a variety of digital imaging tools, and a helpful, friendly support staff. The lab and IT Services staff develop and support a cluster of online tutorials, face-to-face short courses, and other services to assist with the acquisition of skills in the use of a variety of application and Internet-based computing tools.

Student Computer Lab Annex

The Computer Lab Annex has thirteen stations, each with a PC and Macintosh available for use. The Annex can be reserved by faculty and staff for short courses or class exercises through the faculty and staff reservation form .

Classrooms

All classrooms within the School domain are networked to the high-bandwidth UT public network, with access to computers, projection, VCR's, and document cameras for the class instructor. The 5th floor Computer Classroom supports student's hands-on experience using a wide range of hardware and software as part of regular classroom instruction.

Computer Classroom SZB 546

The School maintains a computer classroom available to students enrolled in School of Information classes. The classroom allows students to get hands-on experience using a variety of software applications. The classroom is available for reserve by faculty wishing to incorporate a hands-on technology component into their classes.

Presentation

The instructor station is equipped with an InFocus LitePro 770 and a three-piece Altec sound system.

Networks

Students with wireless devices (laptops, PDA's, tablet PCs, etc.) can access UT's wireless network without cumbersome cables or wires at speeds up to 11 Mbps. For more information on connecting to the wireless network see http://www.utexas.edu/its/docs/pnet01.html
