<title>Cultural Activities and Excursions</title>
<text>The school offers a full range of additional cultural activities, and many groups are organized also by students, depending upon their interests. Antigua also has many travel agencies that offer easy and reasonable access for trips to places such as Tikal, Chichicastenango, Lake Atitlán, and Copán. TRIP TO TIKAL Tikal is the most magnificent of all Maya sites. The ruins are dominated by five enormous temples, and the site itself is surrounded by the Tikal National Park. The park is home to hundreds of species, including spider monkeys and toucans. The sheer size of the place is overwhelming, and its atmosphere is spellbinding. To reach Tikal it is necessary to fly to Flores, and to spend the night at the site is an unforgettable memory. In order to ensure a place at the hotel on the site, we recommend that you make your arrangements before your trip to Guatemala. To make it easy and convenient for you to visit this marvelous place, Language Link offers the following: TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT AT THE ONSITE HOTEL (Saturday departure, Sunday return) First day You will be picked up at your Antigua address by a very reliable driver at 5:00 AM and driven to the airport to board the jet for Flores, leaving at 7:00 AM. <title> Culture
</title><text>Basically the culture of Panama is a mixture of Spanish, African, Native American, and North American traditions. The dances, music, and celebrations are colorful. During Carnival, the last four days before Lent, a variety of folk customs are discernible. The tamborito, danced to hand clapping and drums, dates from the 17th century; the cumbia is a dance of African origin. The archaeological site of Coclé, situated southwest of the Panama Canal near the Gulf of Panama, has yielded magnificent relics that have been dated from as early as 800. Gold jewelry (some inlaid with finely cut precious and semiprecious gems), helmets, and other artifacts believed to have originated at Coclé have been discovered as far north as the Yucatán Peninsula. The Museum of Panamanian Man, established in Panama City in 1976, houses a collection of archaeological and ethnographic materials.
