Materials for the Graduate SchoolFor complete information about applying to the Graduate School, refer to the UT Austin Graduate Catalog. The catalog is the document of authority for all students. Note: Please submit official documents to GIAC as far in advance of the deadline as possible to allow for processing time, as there are many students applying for admission through GIAC every semester. Applicants must submit the following materials to the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC):

Funding ResourcesFor information about funding resources including grants, TAships, and more see Funding Resources. Additional NotesNon DegreeApplicants wishing to do graduate-level coursework without becoming a candidate for an advanced degree may apply for admission to a graduate program as a nondegree graduate student. An application and transcripts of all college coursework should be sent to GIAC; Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores are not required. ResponsibilityOnce an applicant begins submitting materials, the applicant is solely responsible for following up with the graduate coordinator, Carol R. Carreon concerning the status of the application. Conditional AdmissionsOnce the application process is completed, students who fail to meet one of the requirements for regular admission may be granted conditional admission under strictly controlled criteria and conditions. International StudentsThe University of Texas requires a score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer-based test), or 79 (internet-based test) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) OR an overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). To gain admission to the School of Information, international students who are not native English speakers must achieve a total score of at least 600 on the traditional (paper-based) TOEFL or of at least 250 on the new, computer-based TOEFL. The School reserves the right to require a re-administration of the TOEFL in Austin and/or to require an international student to take remedial work in English. The Graduate School offers courses in writing for graduate students for whom English is a second language. The School of Information often recommends that students who need further work with written English take these courses. Last Modified: July 25 2009 12:54:32. | ||
