School of Information is pleased to announce that Dr. Don Turnbull will be joining the
faculty as an Assistant Professor in August. Previously, Don was the
Director of Advanced Development at Outride, Inc., a Xerox PARC spin-off
company acquired by Google, where he focused on personalized search
technology. Prior to that he was the Lead Technical Architect at IBM
Interactive Multimedia, working on the World Book/IBM Multimedia
Encyclopedia and other Internet-related products.

He received his doctorate this year from the University of Toronto focusing
on Knowledge Discovery (Data Mining), and holds an MS in Information,
Design, and Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia
Tech). He is the co-author of "Web Work: Information Seeking and Knowledge
Work on the World Wide Web" published by Kluwer Academic Publishers in
2000. Don will teach and research in the areas of Information Architecture,
HCI and Information Retrieval.
