Doctoral Student Wins ALISE Prize
Belinda Boon, a doctoral student at the School of Information was awarded
first prize at the Association of Library and Information Science Educators
Conference (ALISE) in Boston for her poster on "The Female Experience in
Small Community Public Libraries: Implications for CE". The Tague-Sutcliffe
Award for $250 is presented each year to the best doctoral student poster.
This year, a record 92 submissions were received, and this was a first time
victory for an iSchool student.The ALISE conference is the major hiring conference in the LIS world. The doctoral poster competition is one of the highlights of the event, with a panel of faculty judges reviewing all entrants. Posters are submitted by doctoral students from most leading LIS programs in North America and beyond.
