2. Approval of the Minutes of the 1992 General Assembly
The minutes of the 1992 General Assembly were approved by the General Assembly without discussion.
3. Report of the President
The president gave a verbal explanation of his presidential report on the planperiod 19921996: the developments in membership, the meetings of the Steering Committee, the colloquia and the seminar held, the publications realized and foreseen, and the othe
r activities of the Section. The vice-president commented briefly on the activities in the preparation, composition and publication of the Bibliography for Teachers, presented in Beijing. The president concluded that almost all the projects in the plan-pe
riod 1992-1996 had been realized and that the remaining ones were under way of realization. The Assembly approved the report.
4/5. Report of the Secretary and Financial Report
Combining the secretarial and financial reports the secretary made clear that the balance sheet only covers the years 1993-1995, 1993 being the first whole year after the creation of the section and 1995 the last whole year before presentation of the repo
rt. She made clear, that the teaching aids have been produced through advanced money by the ICA and the Society of the Friends of the French National Archives, and that the selling of the kits until now has been sufficient to cover the costs, and even per
mits the free distribution to some institutions. The secretary also remarked, that production and distribution of the Directory have taken place with the financial support of, among others, the Direction des Archives de France and the Bundesarchiv. Lastly
, the secretary noted that the balance in august 1996 should be about + 6000 US$, without the ordinary resources to be paid by the I CA-treasurer.
After some discussion, in which M. Delmas urged the future Steering Committee to look for an expansion of the extraordianry resources - seen the ambitious plans for the next years the Assembly approved the reports.
6. Presentation of the Medium Term Plan 1996-2000
The vice-president presented the plan for the next medium term. He argued that the symposia - in the preceding plan-period used for the strengthening of the foundation of the Section - should function in the coming plan-period as a means of communication
on the progress of the specific projects. Projects will be gathered under four general headings: Archival education, archival research and literature on archival science, Curriculum development and model curricula, Organisation of initial and continuing e
ducation and Teaching aids and teaching methods. He proposed the 2000 Symposium on "Archival education and training in the world: the state of the art" to be seen as the Section's superproject.
Beside these activities, the vice-president pointed to the importance of the role of the Section in assisting other ICA-bodies and members in projects involving education and/or training, and argued for the intensifying of communication among SAE-members,
especially through the Internet.
The suggestions put forward in a memorandum by Mrs. S. Schenkolewski will be fitted into the plan where possible.
Thereupon, the Assembly approved the proposed Medium Term Plan.
