To protect your safety, do not give out any personal information, such as home or school address, phone number, last name, city, e-mail address, school name, full date of birth, sports team/club name, jersey number, ICQ number or screen name for any other chat or messenger/pager application, including AOL.

Help create a friendly and comfortable environment for everyone. Do not bully or make fun of other chatters.

Don't use inappropriate language or talk about inappropriate topics. Don't use swear words, or even represent them with symbols or numbers. No sex talk, no explicitly violent talk, no fights, no talk about weapons, no abusive language.

Keep your password private. Don't give it out to anyone but your parents or gaurdian.

some good advice straight from kids who chat:
(from freezone.com)

  • When there's someone new in the room, be sure to welcome them!
  • Don't bother other people, if they say leave them alone, leave them alone!
  • Always be nice to people! Always reply if someone talks to you! Say goodbye when you leave!
  • No capitalization for everything you say! Use capitalization only when needed!
  • If a person spells badly or types badly don't make fun of them or be mean to them!
  • DO NOT believe everything that you read. Remember, you CAN'T SEE them or KNOW ANYTHING but what they tell you.
  • Anybody that wants to chat can chat as long as they are courteous and kind, especially by speaking kindly to others – any put downs and you are OUT!
  • I think if you start to chat with someone you should finish chatting, rather than ignore that person. That also means say good-bye.
